Photos of the new Polar/Adidas products

s3_footpod.jpgGoogling for words from the press release from Polar (such as "RS800", "Polar S3" etc.) brought up pictures of the new products. rs800.jpg The RS800 is promised to have new features, among other thing some chronograph functions showing a graph in real time on the unit, which can be seen on the photo. Unlike the RS2000 it looks as if Polar remembered the IrDA port this time, and reading the press release you get the impression that the product will work with PPP. The new S3 does not look a lot smaller than the S1, but indeed slimmer.

Polar and Adidas teaming up?

It looks as if Polar and Adidas are working together on some new products. A new website shows a kind of teaser movie, which makes the impression that a new footpod is being build into a pair of Adidas shoes, and that the WearLink device is in some way integrated to the clothes. It also looks as if a new "running computer" is in the pipeline. Interesting to see what comes out of it. A smaller and coded footpad could be great. Also, I expect most marketing divisions would love the ideas of marketing "intelligent clothes". :-)

Update: Oh, there is actually a press release from Polar being a little more specific about the new products in "Project Fusion":

"Included in the project are the adidas adiStar Fusion range of apparel (t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, bras, women's tops), the adidas adiStar Fusion shoe, Polar's s3 Stride Sensor, The Polar WearLink transmitter, and The Polar RS800 Running Computer."
